WELCOME TO THE PRIEST’S CORNER!
Welcome to St. Matthias!
Those of us who are part of the family of St. Matthias Anglican Church in Dothan, AL have three goals that unite us: #1) Our goal is to worship God, learn more about Him, and have a deeper relationship with Him; #2) We want to spread God’s love within this local Body of the larger Body that is Christ’s Church; and #3) We aim to be God’s love to the world around us through sharing His love through our voices and actions.
All too often - when we lose focus on the love of God and spreading this virtue of action to the world around us - religion can feel stale and not worth the time and effort. However, when our religion is true - meaning that it is an action of our love for God - then it brings forth much spiritual fruit!
This is what God desires of us - that we would bring forth the spiritual fruit that comes from following Him. As St. Paul said in Galatians 5, we are to be loving, joyful, peacemaking, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and in control of ourselves and our impulses… by God’s grace.
All of our activities, services, and worship are geared toward loving God and loving our neighbor as ourselves. From this foundation, we grow and learn as a local church, awaiting the opportunities God grants us to fulfill His Will in the manner that He deems appropriate according to Scripture, Tradition, and Reason.
We look forward to meeting you and worshiping with you!
May God bless you all!

Hymns of the Faith
The music and lyrics passed down through the generations give us a rich sense of the theology of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church… and also give a greater depth to our worship service.
Feel free to take a look at the rich tapestry of some of the hymns from the 1940 Hymnal presented here… and use the links to listen to these great songs of the Faith!
